Fresh leaks around the Redmi K100 Series are finally giving smartphone fans something solid to get excited about, and it feels like Redmi is done playing safe. If the latest tips are accurate, the upcoming K100 lineup could push flagship photography to a whole new level while quietly setting up Poco’s next global blockbuster.

According to information circulating on Weibo and picked up by multiple tipsters, Redmi’s next flagship series is gearing up for a major camera overhaul, possibly headlined by a 200-megapixel sensor and a periscope telephoto lens. Yes, Redmi might be ready to enter the ultra-premium imaging club.

Redmi K100 Series camera leak

Leaks suggest that the Redmi K100 Series will introduce more aggressive camera hardware than its predecessor. A tipster known as Smart Pikachu hinted that a Xiaomi sub-brand is preparing to adopt both 200MP sensors and periscope zoom lenses, strongly pointing toward the K100 lineup.

Based on last year’s pattern, the series is expected to launch with two models initially:

  • Redmi K100

  • Redmi K100 Pro Max

If Redmi does go all-in with a 200MP sensor, logic says it will debut on the Pro Max variant. What’s still unclear, and crucial, is whether this monster sensor will be used as the main camera or as a periscope telephoto lens. Either way, this would be a massive leap from the K90 series.

For context, the Redmi K90 Pro Max already featured a respectable triple-camera setup with a 50MP periscope lens. Jumping from 50MP to 200MP isn’t just an upgrade, it’s a statement.

Redmi K100 Series performance

Camera hype aside, the Redmi K100 Series isn’t expected to compromise on raw power. Leaks suggest Redmi is sticking with Qualcomm’s top-tier silicon.

Here’s what’s being tipped:

  • Redmi K100: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

  • Redmi K100 Pro Max: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6

If true, the Pro Max model may debut Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship chip before most competitors even announce their plans. That’s bold, and very Redmi.

Both devices are said to carry internal codenames:

  • Redmi K100: “Athens” (Model Q11)

  • Redmi K100 Pro Max: “Songyuan” (Model Q11X)

Interestingly, Redmi appears to be shifting its naming strategy, using the “X” suffix instead of the older “Ultra” or “U” branding for top-end models.

Redmi K100 Series global plans

Now here’s where things get globally relevant. Redmi has a clear pattern: launch in China first, then rebrand for international markets under Poco.

The Redmi K90 Pro Max followed this exact route, launching globally as the Poco F8 Ultra. If history repeats itself, and all signs suggest it will, the Redmi K100 Pro Max is likely to arrive worldwide as the Poco F9 Ultra.

That could make the Poco F9 Ultra the first Poco phone ever to feature a 200MP camera. For a brand known for performance-first devices, this would be a big shift, and a welcome one.

Expected global mapping:

  • Redmi K100 → Poco F9 Pro

  • Redmi K100 Pro Max → Poco F9 Ultra

The Poco F9 series is currently expected to launch in early 2027, possibly in the first quarter.

Why the Redmi K100 Series matters

The Redmi K100 Series feels like Redmi’s attempt to stop being “almost flagship” and finally go all the way. A 200MP periscope camera paired with next-gen Snapdragon chips isn’t mid-range ambition, it’s premium intent.

If Redmi prices this aggressively (and history says it will), competitors should be nervous. Samsung and others may have the camera bragging rights today, but Redmi is clearly closing that gap fast.

Nothing is official yet, but if even half of these leaks turn out to be true, the Redmi K100 Series could be one of the most disruptive flagship launches of late 2026.

And yes, Poco fans, you might want to pay close attention.
